Mitchell's month was Feb..besides being his b'day month...he was chosen to receive a prestigious award from the county of San Bernardino to recognize his outstanding citizen , academic and sports achievements...and also he was selected through auditions for be part of the San Bernardino Honor Band...Proud of you..guy!!!

Spring time and it was time for Anton's School Open House...
wrapping up the 1st grade year for him.
on the homescholl front this was the month we focused on

A Day at Disneyland

Last Saturday Owey and I went to Disneyland. Just the two of us. A mommy and me day. Our main motive was to go see Mitch parade down main street with the high school band. It was so much fun to see him but after it was all O's day. We had lot's of fun together. His highlight was seeing HO HO HO ( translation : Santa Claus) . Here is a clip of our day!

Let me begin by saying he really doesn't care about this picture. He cringes every time I bring it up. He is one opinionated boy. He let you know exactly what he is thinking. Last night Chad and I were talking and then in comes the Eliers and says that the only reason for us having babies is so we can make them into football players. Then he left to get ready for practice.

Wild Animal Park

In closing our land unit study we took an amazing safari adventure to the Wild Animal Park. The boys had a great time. Their favorite was of course the lion. They couldn't tear themselves away as we stood less then ten feet away and the only thing between us and the lions was a piece of glass. The gorillas were very active and they were also pretty fascinating to watch as they enjoyed a morning meal. We enjoy our lunch as we watched the elephants enjoy theirs. At the petting zoo we mingled with the deer. Over all it was delightful day and everyone was exhausted by the time we got home.

Yard Sale!!!

This past last week we had no school so the boys and I worked on de-cluttering our home. Cleaning out closets, cupboards and the playroom from toys and lots of clothes. Our goal was to get ready for the holidays with a fresh somewhat tidy home. "Less is more" and "Out with the old" were our mottoes for the week. So after piling all our extras (so to speak) we planned for a yard sale. Hoping that can put a little extra cash in our pockets for Christmas shopping. Saturday came and what a beautiful clear blue sky it brought. The weather couldn't be more perfect for a yard sale. Anton set up his Hot Chocolate business and he even made a poster. Eli had a mini tattoo parlor(LOL). In the end we collected about $140.00. Not to bad for a couple of hours in the morning. At about 11:00am we loaded the rest to take the DI. Fun Day!

Happy Holidays

Officially the holiday season is here! There is lots to update........... of this past month - November. When we last left off Eli's football team was headed to the Superbowl of the AAU conference! Pretty cool ... That division 7,8 & 9 year olds had a good hard working season but unfortunately they had a rough final game! Overall Eli really had fun and that's all that really matters.

Anton also got to play with his flag team one last time for the season. He was pretty excited. They had lots of fun. I wonder if he would want to do it again next year. It was sure fun watching him improve and really understand how to play the game....some thing I am still trying to figure out!

Other adventures we had this last month were a fieldtrip out to the Arboretum and a fabulous Thanksgiving feast with our homeschooling friends.

Football Playoffs!

was their final score. They played as the home team. It's on to the super
bowl for these little guys.

Halloween Fun!

We had such a fun day. The boys had no school and Chad was off.
We went to the park in the morning then we to the Library for story time then in the afternoon we went to the movies. When we got home we carved pumpkins and prepared for a spooktacular evening. Aunt Adriana and Evan came to join us. We gave out lots of candy and did some neighborhood trick-o-treating. Fun!

Our Visit with Great Presidents

As part of the Forest Lawn Museum’s History Comes Alive series, “A Visit with Great Presidents” is an interactive educational program that consists of some of America’s greatest presidents engaging each other and the audience in a discussion on their personal and presidential lives as they relate to certain themes in American History. For this year’s program, we will have Thomas Jefferson, Abraham Lincoln, and Franklin Delano Roosevelt. The theme of the program is the First Amendment to the US Constitution. Therefore, each president will give his thoughts on the issues of Freedom of Speech, Freedom of Religion, and Freedom of the Press. After each president’s presentation, there will be a question and answer segment for the audience. It’s entertaining, educational…and FREE!

Anton First-Grader

Anton has returned to traditional public school. He just missed his friends too much. We, his parents, agreed that was the best thing for him at this time. Of course I was torn with this decision but I know for him, learning doesn't stop when he steps off the school bus. Everyday he is so excited to find out what Eli and Owen have been learning at home and he knows we have lots to share with him.

First Week of Home School

Along with three other families we are learning about great explorers of the past in turn nurturing our own young Jr.Explorers. Our Fish

Meet Jack and Annie, our two Tiger barb tropical fish. We also had a gold fish but it didn't last long. Well one thing we have learned about this type of fish is that they are considered aggressive and therefore we have to be careful what other type of fish we put into the tank.
Disclaimer - since these pictures were taken Jack was a little to aggressive toward Annie. So now we are down to one fish. :(

The Aquarium of the Pacific

Our adventures continue: This summer we have acquired a couple of pets (two hermit crabs and a few fish). So to learn more about them we took a field trip down to Long Beach to discover their world. The amazing world of the deep blue Pacific Ocean.

Zimbabwe - Summer Sounds

One of our adventures this summer that we have enjoyed is going to the Summer Sounds events at the Hollywood bowl. The characters travel to different parts of the world to bring to us music to enjoy and learn about. On this particular day the featured country was Zimbabwe. Very exciting and colorful music. It wasn't hard to feel the energy and just dance along, which was very much encouraged.

California Dream'n - Dance Festival

The youth of twelve stakes participated in this fantastic event held at the University of Redlands. Mitchell had a wonderful time and he made many new friends. What a great blessing to be part of this festival. We know that a lot of work went into pulling this all together and we appreciated.

Camping in Yosemite

We had a wonderful time camping in Yosemite this past week despite the bears that wandered through camp in the early hours of the mornings. During the day we had to keep a close watch of the squirrels taking any chance to get to our food. We hiked up to Vernal Falls. It was a bit tough carrying an extra 29+ lbs (aka Owen) on my back for a mile up hill or should I say up the mountain. Swimming in the river was really COLD but still fun. The boys enjoy our bike rides in the late afternoon to Curry Village. There is really lots to do. We wish we could have stayed longer. Well plans are definitely underway for next year. America the Beautiful

As part of Eli's cub scout requirements we had to review the meaning of the Pledge of Allegiance, so with that in mind we took a week to learn a little bit more of our countries history. America the Beautiful was our study unit and the boys created many fun projects and we read this fun but informative little book together. It was a great family read.

Under the Sea - Day camp

While Mitchell had his week at boyscout camp the rest of us went to cub scout daycamp. Eli the cub scout, Anton and Owen were tag-a-longs and I got to help with dinner one day and then I worked with Eli's group as a leader for the rest of the week. Day camp went from 3pm to 8pm everyday from Monday to Friday. We had a lot of fun and Eli got a lot of his Bear done. We look forward to doing this next year.

Once again our neighbors came through with the amazing fireworks display. Friends and family came to enjoy the 4th festivities. We had the traditional BBQ grub and lots of yummy treats. Legoland 2008

Our biggest highlight this week was ofcourse Legoland.
We went down to Carlsbad for a couple of days and had two fun filled days at Legoland.
We hope the boys got enough of Legoland to last a decade.They tried
their hand at lego building and we were amazed at the many lego
creations throughout the park.
They were pretty amazing. This was Owen's first
time going to Legoland.Anton and Eli's favorite area was Pirate land.
Mitchell loved all the snacking. This family get away was full of little wonders.
